I feel very happy and privileged to be starting in the role of Assistant Principal at Corpus Christi. The last few weeks that I have spent at Corpus Christi have already shown me that the community is strong and that there is a commitment to not only the wellbeing of students but also their learning. Students and staff have been extremely welcoming and I am appreciative of the kindness that has been shown towards me.
One of my mantras that I often speak to students about is ‘getting the little things right’. That they do this at the beginning of each and every day with being organised and wearing their uniform correctly. If we ‘get the little things right’ we can then all focus on the other important things. I truly believe that when we all get the ‘little thing’ right then everything else follows on in a positive way.
I look forward to meeting more and more of the students and understanding and appreciating what makes Corpus Christi a good school.

St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal Term 2 Initiative
As followers of Christ, we are challenged to make a preferential option for the poor as it is important to create conditions for marginalised voices to be heard, to defend the defenceless, and to assess lifestyles, policies and social institutions in terms of their impact on the poor. The St Vincent de Paul Society is committed to actively and passionately speaking out against the causes of poverty and inequality on behalf of the people we serve. Please watch the video attached on the excellent work St Vincent de Paul does in the community.
In term two each House is asked to donate items to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.
- Items that the students from Ingham, Chisholm, Davis and Deane could bring in include: Beanies, Scarves, Socks, Gloves or Blankets and Jumpers.
- Senior students are to donate hygiene items for the Social Justice Committee to organise hygiene packs.
Students are to place their items for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal in their learning circle baskets.
Thank you for supporting the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.

Mobile Phone Procedures Reminder
The Pastoral Team wish to remind all members of the Corpus Christi community about our mobile phone policy. We are reminding students and parents that if a mobile phone is VISIBLE during the hours of 8:20am - 3:00pm the phone will be confiscated and handed in to the office by that staff member or the student may be asked to hand it in to the office themselves. Students will be able to collect their phone at the end of the school day
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are mobile phones banned in schools?
NSW Government has banned mobile phone use in schools. Teachers are instructed to confiscate visible phones.
Studies have shown that phone use in schools results in
- Negative impact on wellbeing
- Decreased academic performance
- Decreased social interactions
- Accessing inappropriate material and cyberbullying
What if I need to speak to my child during the day?
Parents are encouraged to contact the school office during the day. The office will pass on your message in a confidential manner i.e. send a private note enclosed in an envelope, or they will arrange for your child to come speak to you on the phones in the office.
What if my child wants to talk to me during the day?
Our office staff understand that there may be times when students are anxious about something or they need to find out something from their parents. Our office staff will arrange for the student to have access to a phone to contact their parents.
My child has a medical condition that requires them to monitor their health on their phone
These students already have support plans in place where their teachers know they are able to check their phone to monitor their health. This will also be the case for students who have been given permission by counsellors/psychologists/pastoral team to access their phone for pastoral reasons.
I need to organise transportation arrangements with my child
Your child will be able to access their phone when the dismissal bell rings at 3:00pm.
My child uses the Compass App to work out where their next class is.
There are a number of different ways that students can access their Compass
- Compass Kiosk - students can use their Compass ID card at the Compass Kiosk in the student foyer. All they need to do is scan their card and their updated timetable will be displayed.
- As part of our “Ready to Learn” expectations, Learning Advisors encourage students to check their Compass prior to leaving their class so they know where to go for the proceeding lesson.
Can students continue to use their phone to pay at the canteen?
For the remainder of Term Two they can, however from Term Three onwards, students will no longer be able to use their phone at the canteen. We are providing parents with this time to organise other payment methods for their child.
Payment Methods at the canteen
- Cash
- Debit Card
- Online orders via MySchool Connect
I have heard there are some classes that allow for phones to be used for photography or certain apps, is this continuing?
Staff are in the process of finding alternative solutions to this. Students are encouraged to use their laptops if they need to take photos of their work.
Junior students should not be using mobile phones in class or accessing any apps.
Senior students, particularly those in Creative Arts and Technology courses, may need to use their phones for certain tasks, but that will be in discussions with their Learning Advisors, who will set clear guidelines and expectations for appropriate use.

As part of our focus on school effectiveness, Corpus Christi Catholic High School will be participating in an online survey for students, staff and parents – Tell Them From Me (TTFM). The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students, staff and parents think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers, students and parents interact with each other. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve.
The survey takes approximately 12 minutes to complete. The survey measures include such topics as emotional and social well-being, physical health, and behaviours and attitudes linked to student success. The survey also allows students to give their thoughts and feedback in open-ended question responses.
Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary and completely anonymous.
You can access the survey at:
Closing the date for the survey is Friday 30 May, 2025.

Important Documents
On the Compass Newsfeed you will find the following two documents:
- 2025 Sporting opportunities document. There are many sporting opportunities students are able to get involved in in 2025. Students can now see the “2025 Sporting opportunities” document with all of the sports available to trial for as well as the sign up sheet for the majority of the teams (parents/caregivers can't sign up to trial for a team on behalf of their child). This has been posted to students' compass.
There are a few sports that I do not have the link for yet (these are teams where students need to apply to trial through the Wollongong Diocese). Once I receive these links I will be updating the document so please keep checking it for updates. - Pinned on the Compass page is the 2025 Sports Flyer. Illawarra Careers Expo
The recent Illawarra Careers Expo proved to be a valuable and successful event for students exploring their future career pathways. All of Year 10, along with interested students from Years 11 and 12, had the opportunity to attend and engage with a diverse range of exhibitors.
The event featured representatives from universities, colleges, the Australian Defence Force, NSW Police Force, and various group training organisations. Students were able to ask questions, gather information, and gain insight into a wide array of education and career opportunities.
A big thank you goes to Workplace Learning for organising such an informative and well-run event.
Congratulations to all students who attended for representing the school so positively - many exhibitors commented on their excellent behaviour, enthusiasm, and respectful engagement. Well done!
