Transition and Pathway Program (TaPP)
Pop Up Podcast Workshop
The Pop Up Podcast Workshop was an excellent learning experience for our students, giving them the opportunity to plan and produce their own podcasts from scratch. As students are often asked to create podcasts in subjects such as English, the workshop was not only engaging but also highly practical and relevant to their learning. Stephanie, who facilitated the workshop, brought extensive industry experience and a wealth of knowledge, connecting effortlessly with students through her approachable and engaging style. Her expertise made the day both fun and educational. As one student put it, “This was the best day ever – I learnt so much!”

Transport for NSW
The Transport for NSW Infrastructure Industry Workshop held at the Russell Vale depot was an inspiring event aimed at encouraging female students to explore careers in non-traditional trades. During the workshop, students had the unique opportunity to learn about various aspects of infrastructure work, including bridges, line marking, mechanics, pedestrian crossings, and traffic lights. This hands-on experience provided valuable insight into the diverse roles within the transport industry and highlighted the exciting pathways available for women interested in these dynamic and essential trades.
Float Your Boat
The Float Your Boat program is making waves! Year 10 student Peleh had an exciting opportunity to explore career pathways with the Water Police, gaining firsthand insight into this vital role on the water. In addition, Peleh participated in an industry tour of Blue Scope and attended the Sydney Boat Show, further expanding his understanding of maritime and industrial careers. This fantastic program, facilitated by RIEP, continues to open doors and inspire students to consider diverse and rewarding career options.

Stage 6 EVET Applications
Are you a year 10 student thinking about your pattern of study? Now's the time to explore your options with an EVET course for next year!
See Mrs. Wynen in The Vine Cafe during learning circle to express your interest and get an application form.
Don't wait—applications close on September 10th!
Year 10 Work Experience Week
All Year 10 students will be undertaking work experience from December 8th to 12th. More details will be provided soon, but students are encouraged to start thinking about potential placements. It doesn’t need to be their “forever” job - just somewhere that sparks their interest. Volunteering for the week is also a valuable option to consider. Last year, students gained experience at a variety of places, including the council library, childcare centres, primary schools, aged care facilities, hotels, veterinary clinics, law firms, and we even had students try beekeeping.
Work Experience at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority
Recently, Year 10 student Jade Markovski enjoyed an incredible week of work experience at AMSA, where she explored a diverse range of roles, including Marine Safety Inspector, Port Marine Surveyor, Naval Architect, Communications and Media, and Safety Liaison. Highlights of her placement included attending both face-to-face and online Seafarer examinations, inspecting Domestic Commercial Vessels in Sydney Harbour, conducting safety observations on the Manly Ferry, and joining a Port State Control inspection aboard a large container ship in Port Botany. This valuable experience opened her eyes to the many exciting career opportunities in the maritime industry, especially for women. Well done Jade!
