Workplacement Year 11 VET Students
A representative from Workplace Learning Illawarra will be visiting Corpus Christi on Monday, 13 May, to speak with all year 11 VET students.
This is a crucial session designed to equip students with all the information they need to have a successful and rewarding workplacement experience. The representative will cover several key areas, including:
- The workplacement procedure: Gain a clear understanding of the steps involved in the workplacement process.
- What to expect during workplacement: Get insights into the typical day-to-day activities and expectations in a workplace setting.
- Your rights and responsibilities: Learn about your entitlements and obligations as a workplacement student.
- Q&A session: This is your chance to ask any questions you may have about workplacement directly to the expert.
Workplace Learning Illawarra plays a vital role in sourcing host employers for our students, providing valuable connections with local businesses and industries. However, if students have a particular host employer in mind, they are welcome to source their own workplacement. If students choose this option, please ensure they inform the school at least 6 weeks prior to the commencement of work placement. This timeframe allows us to complete the necessary paperwork and assess the suitability of the proposed host employer to ensure a positive and safe learning environment for you.
Please note the scheduled workplacement dates for Year 11 Corpus Christi VET students
Term 3
- Week 3: August 4th to August 8th (Backup: Week 4, August 11th to August 15th)
Term 4
- Week 2: October 20th to October 24th (Backup: Week 4, November 3rd to November 7th)
It is important to remember that workplacement is a mandatory component of all VET courses. This hands-on experience is an integral part of learning, providing students with practical skills and real-world insights that will complement their classroom studies and enhance their future career prospects.
Make sure your student attends the session with Workplace Learning Illawarra on May 13th in session 5. It's a fantastic opportunity to get all the information students need and feel confident as they prepare for this important stage of their VET journey. I have also attached an information booklet for parents and carers.
