Digital Literacy at Corpus Christi

I am excited to introduce myself as the new Digital Literacy Coach at Corpus Christi.  As technology continues to evolve, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a growing part of students’ lives; both in their education and their future workplaces. Today’s students must develop the skills to critically engage with these technologies, ensuring they are responsible and ethical users.

Corpus Christi is committed to preparing students for this evolving landscape and has introduced the role of Digital Literacy Coach to guide both staff and students in navigating the opportunities and challenges of AI and digital tools.

What is Digital Literacy?

Digital literacy is the skill set underpinning one’s ability to use digital tools effectively, to critically evaluate online content, and engage ethically in digital spaces. This skill set includes understanding AI’s capabilities and limitations, protecting privacy, and upholding academic integrity.

Why is this Important?

In a time where misinformation spreads rapidly, and AI can generate convincing but flawed content, students must be equipped with the skills to think critically, verify sources, and use AI responsibly. By teaching digital literacy alongside academic integrity, students will gain an understanding of the importance of continuing to create their own work to authentically achieve their learning outcomes and work towards their long-term post-school goals.

Our Approach

Over 2025 and 2026, we will roll out a digital literacy and academic integrity curriculum explicitly taught to all students. This program will align with key national guidelines, including:

  • NSW Education Generative AI Guidelines
  • Australian Curriculum Digital Literacy Framework
  • Australian Framework for Generative AI in Schools
  • Catholic Education Office’s Generative AI Interim Position Paper

I will also work closely with staff to align our teaching practices so they reflect these guidelines, and uphold the driving objectives and obligations outlined in the key documents.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, I encourage you to reach out. Your input is invaluable as we work together to support our students.
