Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
I warmly welcome all back to the 2025 academic school year. I trust that all had a pleasant holiday break and spent it with friends and family. I am extremely proud to be taking over as the Acting Principal of this wonderful school.
It was wonderful to be received so well by the Staff and students. I was at Corpus for four weeks in Term 4 last year when Mr Muscat was on leave. Many of the students remembered me and went out of their way to say hello.
I would like to introduce myself to all a little further. I grew up in western Sydney and started teaching at Marist Brothers Auburn. I was Assistant Principal in three secondary Colleges in Sydney over 14 years and Principal for one year at Patrician Brothers College, Fairfield before moving to the Principal’s role at Mount Carmel Catholic College and then John Therry Catholic College and then St John the Evangelist, Nowra. I look forward very much to getting to know you and your children.
There are also a number of other Staff commencing at Corpus Christi this year and we warmly welcome then into our community.
- Madeline Brooks – English
- Kye Muscat – Maths
- Shaun Perera – Maths
- Natasha Stephens – HSIE
- Isabelle Tannous – English
- Ben Anderson – HSIE
- Sheree Hughes – Maths
- Annie Farrugia – DLN
- Julie Landon - EALD
- Melissa Loudoun – PDHPE (PDHPE Coord from St Benedict’s on professional swap for 2025)
I would like to invite all parents to consider attending the P&F meetings. This group is advisory and not fund raising and aids me in understanding the needs of the school and be better able to implement initiatives and make changes. The first Parents and Friends meeting of 2025 is on Wednesday 19 February from 7.00pm – 8.00pm.
The first few weeks have flown by and officially we have completed two. The first week was the Staff day only so this week has been a full one and most exciting. I always enjoy the energy of seeing the students catch up with friends and sharing holiday stories.
I have attended the Swimming Carnival, had the Opening School Mass, had the Year 7 Technology Bootcamp and Pastoral days and visited St Pius X, St Francis of Assisi, St John’s, Ss Peter and Paul, St Paul’s, St Patricks, Stella Maris and Nazareth and had a meeting with Fr Joseph.
As we move through the next few weeks we prepare ourselves for Ash Wednesday (5 March) and the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday focusses our mind and heart on repentance, prayer and alms giving and is symbolised by the ‘ashing’ of a cross on our foreheads. The Priest will say ‘turn away from sin and stay faithful to the Gospels’ or ‘ from dust we come and from dust we will return’.
I thank the Staff and students for being so welcoming and look forward to 2025.
God bless
Mr Wayne Marshall
Principal
