Transition and Pathway Program (TaPP)
Welcome back! I'm Mrs. Toni Smith, the Transition and Pathway Specialist (TaPS) at Corpus Christi High School. I look forward to supporting students on their career journey, from finding their first part-time job to transitioning to full-time study or an apprenticeship. I encourage students, parents, and carers to read this newsletter and contact me with any questions.
Students in Years 8 to 12 should join the Transition and Pathway Google Classroom (TaP GC) for additional resources and updates. An email with the class invite was sent to students earlier this week, so please check your school email if you haven't already joined.
UOW Summer Master Class
Congratulations Lucas Corbeski, Vanessa Dimoski, Samantha Jameel and Matilda Povea-Purcell on graduating from the UOW Summer Master class over the holidays. This is a great accomplishment.
CEODoW Step Into Teaching Scholarship
Courtney Marsh has been awarded the 2025 Step Into Teaching Scholarship. This fantastic achievement includes $20,000 towards her education degree, part-time school support officer employment during her studies, and a guaranteed permanent teaching position after graduation. We are incredibly proud of Courtney.
What’s on in 2025?
Transition and Pathway Program
All students in Years 7 to 10 will participate in career education activities at least once per term. These activities will focus on the following themes:
Year 7: Uniquely Me
Year 8: Crafting Success
Year 9: Building My Dream
Year 10: My Path, My Plan, My Future
Work Experience Opportunities
Work Experience provides students with short-term placements in various industries, broadening their understanding of the world of work and potential career paths.
- Year 10: students will participate in work experience later this year.
- Years 11 & 12: students are welcome to apply for work experience, however, they must ensure their placement does not conflict with assessments or essential coursework. All work experience applications require Principal approval.
Important Note: Work experience is distinct from work placements, which are a mandatory component of VET courses. For all inquiries regarding TVET, EVET and SBATs, please contact Mrs. Kellyanne Wynen, VET Coordinator.
Year 10 Work Ready Program
This program is specifically designed for students who are considering leaving school at the end of the year. Its primary goal is to provide students with the skills and confidence necessary to successfully navigate their post-school options.
Students can now submit their Expressions of Interest via the Year 10 TaP Google Classroom.
Year 12 Weekly TaPS Bulletin
The Weekly TaPS Bulletin is an email sent to Year 12 students (and their parents/carers) containing information about career opportunities like open days, webinars, and information sessions. It aims to simplify the often overwhelming amount of career information available.
Other Opportunities include:
- Pathway Meetings: Individual meetings are available to help students explore and plan their future education and career pathways. Students can book a meeting time using the link provided on the TaPS Google Classroom.
- Resume Writing Workshops: Resume writing workshops are held every Tuesday at lunchtime in Davis One.
- Career Information: Information on upcoming career sessions, expos, and guest speakers will be shared via the relevant TaPS Google Classroom and/or Compass.
- Job Board: Part-time, casual, and full-time job opportunities are advertised on the Jobs Board.
Congratulations
Aidan Campion, Mason Grant, Toby Borthwick, Connor Fox, Noah Dominato, and Marina Theodosiadis have all successfully secured apprenticeships. Congratulations to each of them on this fantastic achievement.
