Pilgrims of Hope: Embracing Presence in the Jubilee Year

As we embark on the journey of the Jubilee Year 2025, we are invited to embrace the theme "Pilgrims of Hope." A Jubilee is a time of renewal, reflection, and recommitment to our faith, calling us to be people of hope—hope in Christ, hope for our communities, and hope for the future. This theme resonates deeply with our school’s focus for the year: being present—to God, to ourselves, and to those around us.

At Corpus Christi, we strive to cultivate a spirit of presence in our daily interactions, fostering a community where each individual feels seen, valued, and supported. Being present means more than simply showing up; it calls us to actively engage with one another, listen deeply, and respond with compassion.

Throughout this year, we have witnessed moments of profound presence within our school community. Students have demonstrated presence in their commitment to social justice initiatives, such as supporting the Winter Appeal, Project Compassion, and the Christmas Appeal. Through these acts of service, they have embodied the essence of pilgrimage—walking in faith, bringing hope to those in need, and deepening their connection with others.

Our liturgical celebrations and retreats have also provided opportunities to be present to God, allowing students and staff to pause from the busyness of life and reflect on their personal faith journey. Moments of stillness in prayer, communal worship, and the simple act of sharing stories have strengthened our collective spiritual journey as Pilgrims of Hope.

In the classroom, we see students and staff demonstrating presence through engaged learning, open discussions, and the courage to ask difficult questions. By being fully present to their studies, they embody the call to grow more fully into the likeness of Christ. Teachers, in turn, model presence by guiding and supporting students, ensuring that each young person is known and nurtured.

As we continue through this Jubilee Year, may we walk forward as Pilgrims of Hope—committed to being truly present to our faith, to one another, and to the wider world. May our journey be one of renewal, joy, and deepened connection with Christ, who walks with us always.

Welcome Year 7: Beginning the Journey at Corpus Christi

A warm welcome to our newest members of the Corpus Christi Catholic High School community—our Year 7 students! Beginning high school is an exciting milestone, filled with new opportunities, friendships, and experiences. As you step into this new chapter, know that you are supported by a school community that is here to guide and encourage you every step of the way.

At Corpus Christi, we are called to “Abide in Christ” and live out our core values of Presence, Humility, Courage, and Service. This year, our focus on being present reminds us to embrace each moment—whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or during our times of prayer and reflection. Being present means showing up with an open heart, forming genuine connections, and making the most of the opportunities ahead.

Already, our Year 7 students have embraced this theme through their Year 7 Welcome Day, orientation activities, and House spirit events. These experiences have helped them settle in, meet their peers, and build confidence as they navigate their new school environment.

To our Year 7 students—this is just the beginning of an incredible journey. Over the coming years, you will grow academically, spiritually, and personally, discovering your strengths and passions along the way. We encourage you to get involved, ask questions, and always seek support when needed.

To our Year 7 families—thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We look forward to working together to nurture and support their learning and wellbeing.

Welcome to the Corpus Christi family—where you will find friendship, faith, and a place to belong.

Bishop Brian Mascord - Visitation To All Saints Catholic Parish

Bishop Brain Mascord will be visiting All Saints Parish from Friday 28 March 2025 to Sunday 30th March 2025. The aim of Bishop Brian’s visit is to help All Saints Catholic Parish to look at itself and to make an assessment on:

  • Where our parish is going
  • How we are translating our basic evangelising thrust as disciples of Jesus in to action
  •  What we as a parish have achieved and are doing well, also
  • What we are not doing
  • What needs are confronting us in our parish
  •  How we can best use all the talents, resources, goodwill and generosity that already exists in our parish community

We are looking forward to Bishop Brian visiting our wonderful parish and community at Mass on Saturday 29th March at 5.00 pm and Sunday 30th March at 9.00 am.

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce the Mission Team for 2024. This year Ms. Skye Murray will hold the role of Assistant Leader of Mission. This will see her looking after areas of Social Justice and Curriculum throughout the community. Joining Ms Murray in the Mission Team will be Ms Kristin Ciccone and Ms Sarah Beckett, who once again will hold the position of Youth Ministry Leader and Facilitator of the Wollongong Environmental Network respectively. I welcome them to the Mission Team once again and look forward to working with them throughout the year. All students should keep an eye out for upcoming Mission team meetings via compass.
